At this time, VILE are one of the most influence brutal death metal. At least they prove it from their two first released album since they made their band on 1996 at Concord, California. When they debut their album, “Stench of The Deceased” in 1999 and then “Depopulate” 2 years later.
But we can feel their degradation on their music creativity since their 3rd full album “The New Age Of Chaos” in 2005. There’s a lot of extreme music media and fans outhere start to doubt VILE skill to write music by responding their released are not better than two album before this and this is just some way to proof that they are exsist and to maintain VILE‘s big name. And maybe looking to that event, VILE‘s need a long process to produce their forth album plus they have to think a lot, because a few of their personels are leaving the band before now.
In producing “Metamorphosis“, they need a long time by starting in the early January in 2003. But pity for them, that long process can’t guaranteed quality and creativity for the result. We think the value of the result is not satisfiying, mostly about the thinkness of the sound and their vocal sound also the drum.
Before they produce this album, they promises on their new album that they going to put a new touch to their music by putting many technical part that each of one of them have, such as ORIGIN or even SPAWN OF POSSESION. But once again, it really ashame some says its like fire is far from the grill.
Like you all know that “Metamorphosis” itself gives many space for Collin Davis (Guitarist), as one of the founder of VILE that left, of course Davis should understand what will he offers to the fans. Just listen how this big space is given to their closing songs that also just instrument in it ‘Redemption‘.
Back to the result that are not maximum, this is still added by their drummer skill, Tyson Jupin, that also sound not maximum. And in the released of this album, VILE are having three new bloods and they are Erlend Caspersen (bassst), JJ Hrubovcak (guitarist) who also a bassist in death metal band named HATE ETERNAL and Mike Hrubovacak who also vocalist in veteran death metal band named MONSTROSITY.
Our conclusion are “Metamorphosis” is definitely not for a classic death meatl lovers, but we also remind you all even VILE playing in brutal death metal genre but they didn’t offering a fast beat like many band that playing in that sub-genre. “Metamorphosis” are offering a brutal death metal that was put a bit of technical, black metal, even doom metal influence such as a song titled ‘Shadow Work‘.
It’s obvious that “Metamorphosis” put VILE in a difficult position to their next album if they didn’t try to put on their track, their brutal death metal fans will leave them even their own fans. [royromero@berontakzine.com]
